​Chaos Releases Corona 12 Update 2: Enhanced Material Library and Workflow Improvements

Chaos has announced the release of Corona 12 Update 2, bringing significant enhancements to its rendering engine. This update focuses on streamlining workflows and expanding the material library, providing users with more tools for efficient and realistic rendering.​
Key Highlights of Corona 12 Update 2
Integration of Chaos Scans into Cosmos
Corona users now have direct access to over 3,100 ultra-realistic scanned materials through the Cosmos library. This integration simplifies the process of finding and applying high-quality materials, eliminating the need for manual imports. The library includes a diverse range of materials such as metals, leathers, papers, plastics, and rubbers, with over 380 new additions. Notably, premium users can edit these scanned materials to suit specific project requirements.​
Automatic Virtual Tours with Auto Hotspots
The update introduces a feature that allows for the automatic generation of interactive virtual tours using Auto Hotspots. This tool enables users to create immersive walkthroughs of their scenes, facilitating better client presentations and design reviews.​
Enhanced Rendering Features
  • Differential Ray Filtering: This feature improves the sharpness of textures viewed through refractive surfaces, enhancing the clarity and realism of renders.​
  • Per Camera Global Volume Override: Users can now apply global volume settings on a per-camera basis, offering greater creative control over atmospheric effects in different scene views.​
  • New Community LUTs: A selection of community-created Look-Up Tables (LUTs) has been added, allowing users to apply various color grading presets to their renders for different visual styles.​
Performance and Compatibility Enhancements
  • Faster Parsing in 3ds Max: Improvements have been made to reduce parsing times in Autodesk 3ds Max, leading to quicker scene loading and rendering.​
  • Smoother Workflow in Cinema 4D: Workflow optimizations have been implemented for Cinema 4D users, ensuring a more seamless rendering experience.​
  • Support for Anima 6 and Autodesk 3ds Max 2026: Corona 12 Update 2 extends compatibility to include Anima 6 and the latest Autodesk 3ds Max 2026, allowing users to leverage new features and improvements in these platforms.​
