This is great work. Thanks for sharing! This is the type of work I want to be doing - computer generated, but with an artistic feel. Unique work to the individual.

That's total time - I got a massing model from the client and some additional detail but I had to bring it all together and so the model is about half mine and half theirs. Didn't take long though - because I didn't have to deal with texturing, etc. it went really fast, maybe a couple hours tops.

Glad to hear it! We did four images in about 6 days - overall this one went pretty quickly, probably 10-12 hours total on my end. That doesn't count the review time though. That's pretty typical for this kind of work. Hope that helps!

Thanks everyone!
Christopher - the washes are a separate step. Usually 2-3 layers with a foreground-to-transparent gradient set to multiply to help darken / vignette the edges, but sometimes set to overlay to lighten up certain areas. Textures are added separately with pattern overlays set to overlay or soft light blending modes.
The "412" tutorial discusses these steps in a little more detail - because it was very similar in this image, I left it out as it felt somewhat redundant. Here is the link just in case:

That said, I think the end washes are just as applicable in photo-realistic work though. Just another tool to help with the composition & color balance.
Hope that answers your question - feel free to contact me with anything else. Thanks again!
