You are really on to something here. Continue the pursuit and investigation.
Technically, this is appears to be parametric structural design; however, that is also powerful. If you could dynamically or parametrically get a 'skin' of surface to stretch over the structure or group of structures, then that may be even more dynamic.
If the structure and space could be tied to a space planning tool, then it really would be powerful. Keep going!!!!
